Hi, just hope to correct this. Col. Nathaniel Pope b. c 1609 wife Lucy, no maiden name has ever been found. this whole family of brothers, sons etc are in my book. They came to Virgiania from Bristol England and were in the commerece trade. Will dated 1659 names son-in-law John Washington, daughter Anne, alias Washington, sons Thomas and son Nathaniel.
Nathaniel was in St. Mary's Hundred 1637 and name Grand Inquest 1637. Thomas the son left will naming sons Nathaniel, Thomas, Richard (who gave "Cliff's to Nathaniel with his mothers) Thomas was drowned at sea returning from a trip to England.
Col. Nathaniel names daughter Anne (alias Washington) in his will of 1659, and sons Thomas and Nathaniel. Daughter Margaret was deceased. This Nathaniel mar Elizabeth Pierce Bridges and Jane Bridges mar. John Rolf son of John Rolph and Pocahantas. Nathaniel's son Nathaniel mar. Lucy Fox and relocated to Louisa Co.Va. George Washington surveyd his plantation and the survey is still in this family.

I spent years searching in Virgina and everywhere. all the Pope family and it is well documented.

The James you have in Ga belongs to Sampson Co., N C Popes.

Hope this helps
