To Sarah,
I believe I now have a much more complete history of Popes who went to Canada. Thomas and Joan (Vercoe) had Thomas (1786), Henry (1789), John (Reverand 1792) and Richard (1792, were they twins?) and with Ann Aze William (1795) and Joseph (1803). All were born in Padstow. John and William went to Bedeque, Joseph joined them later. Joseph had two sons William Henry (1825) and James Colledge (1826) both well known in Canada. William Henry's son was Sir Joseph Pope, and Great Grandson another William Henry (1923) who went on to be decorated during 2nd WW.
The Rev. John Pope married Catherine Uglow. THeir eldest son was George Uglow Pope who later became Chaplain of Balliol College (1886) and whose son George Stevens Pope (1864 in India) went on to become Lord Mayor of Norwich, England 1824-25
Richard married Alice Stott and has at least three children, Thomas (1820), John (1821) and Jane (1822) all born in Quebec. This is as far as my work has gone on this side.
I am desended through Thomas (1786) and Thomas (1810) with his second wife (Isabella Pyle)and then John Lumsden Pope (1870)and John Henry Pope (1890) my grandfather.
Can supply much more info on Thomas of 1786 if you need it

David Pope
