Two men named John Pope got married in Jackson County, FL in the year 1866.
One of them married Dora Russ on June 2, 1866.
The other -- certainly we should hope that two Johns each took one wife, rather than the same John, heaven forfend, taking two -- married Catherine Spears on June 16, 1866.
One researcher attributes to my 2x great-grandparents, William Stuart Pope 1789-1837 and Harriet Scurlock Pope 1803-1888 2 children I didn't know about (in addition to William Samuel, Henry, Margaret and Elizabeth that I DID know about).
These additional children are said to be John Pope, born Sept. 1, 1828, and Catherine Pope, born June 10, 1836.
Can anyone identify John Pope, born Sept. 1, 1928, as the man who married either Catherine Spears or Dora Russ in 1866?
