Peter Poorman Sr. Reasearchers
I have somewhat of a mystery to solve. I have a Catherine Poorman, b. Sept.3, 1780 in Lancaster Co. d. Oct.1, 1871 in Lancaster County. She married Christopher Shank/Shanck/Shenk from Lancaster Co.
I have been trying to connect my Catherine Poorman Shank to a Poorman line. In My research I find her brother to be Henry Buhrman/Poorman who died in 1844. Some researchers have Henry Poorman, son of Peter Poorman Sr., death date as 1844. I have a question about this date and would like to see any documentation. I was wondering if this death date is correct? Could this Henry Poorman, son of Peter Poorman Sr., have a different death date and the Henry Poorman who died in 1844 is the son?
I have the will of Henry Buhrman/Poorman who died in 1844 in Lancaster County. Henry Buhrman leaves his entire estate to his neice, Veronica Shank/Shenk Miller, who was the daughter of Catherine Poorman and Christopher Shank. This would make my Catherine Poorman the sister of Henry Poorman who died in 1844…so was she also the daughter of Peter Poorman Sr and Mary Catherine? The last child listed for them was Abraham.
Since my Catherine Poorman was born in 1780, I feel Mary Catherine may have been too old to bare children. Therefore I have to speculate that Catherine and Henry were children from another line of Peter Sr…. and that the death date of 1844 for Henry that some researchers have listed as son of Peter Poorman Sr. is incorrect…or. …Peter Poorman Sr. and wife Catherine had another child very late in life and researchers did not ever find her yet.
My last question is on William (Billy) Poorman. In 1811 brother, Henry Poorman, was named as executor and sole beneficiary of his brother, William Poorman’s (Buhrman’s) estate. Is this William and Henry son’s of a Henry Sr. and Grandsons of Peter Poorman Sr. If so then Catherine Poorman has two brothers…all children of Henry Sr.
Ok these are my confusing questions. Bottom line I want to find out where my Catherine Poorman Shank fits in. I guess the only thing I know for sure is that her brother was Henry Poorman who died in 1844. Beside his will that states his estate went to his niece Veronica Shank (Daughter or Catherine Poorman and Christopher Shank) I also found in the book History of Dauphin Co. the bio. Of Veronica Shank Miller’s son, William S. Miller. In this bio it tells of him being born in Lancaster Pa. on “The Old Poorman Farm” which his Mother inherited………Henry’s Farm.
To all of the Poorman researchers out there if you have any answers or comments please let me know. Does anyone have the Will of Peter Poorman Sr? Is there a Catherine mentioned as the youngest child and not Abraham.
Need you responses,
Melinda
