Some bits and pieces:
Did you know that Lydia Ewing was the d/o Capt John Ewing?
He was called "Indian John" because
"He was taken captive at age 16 by Shawnee Indians in the Clendennin Massacre July 5, 1763.He was held on the Scioto River three miles south of Circleville, OH.He was released May 14, 1765 under treaty stipulations at Fort Duquesne (Pittsburg, PA) and became known as "Indian" John Ewing. The family then traveled to Stony Creek which is now in Pocahontas co, WV wher "Indian" John married Anna Smith in 1774.they had 11 children, one of which was Lydia born March 2, 1792"Jackson Co History & Families 1816-1991 175th Anniversaryc1991.CB Metro977.11 J12 J121"
Indian John & Anna Smith EWING are buried in Glen Cemetery in Gallia Co, OH
Do you have a picture of George & Lydia Ewing BURRIS tombstone in MO?
Do you know who Charles Burris wife was? He was 1842-1914.
Do you know any dates for Jackson Burris?his daughter is buried at Ridgewood Cemetery.
Sorry, I guess I should be posting this on Burris genforum but they are descendents of a Poor and I wasn't sure you would be looking over there.
