Albert Edgar Pooley

Looking for any information relating to an Albert Edgar Pooley. Albert was my maternal grandfather. My mother Iris Ann (married name Armitage) is his only daughter and his wife was Lilian Goulding. Unfortunately, for various reasons I put this research on the backburner so to speak as other things in life took over, however I am now at a point where I would like to pick this up again. My initial intention was not so much to research the family tree but I was more interested in the family business side of it. Albert had a brother called Russell and a sister called Violet. Russell married someone called Grace (no children) and Violet married someone called Lionel (I don’t recall their surname but they had children, I believe two daughters and one of them may be called Ellen, she may well be an only child actually), I believe there was a fourth child who died in childhood possibly named Cyril. Albert was born in 1916 and died in 1980. I don’t recall when he and Lilian were married but it was during the Second World War and I would guess either 1942/1943 or 1944, mum was born November 1944. Unfortunately Lilian my grandma has now passed away (towards the end of 2010).

As I mentioned, whilst some further details about the family would be most welcome, I am interested to learn about the family business. All mum and I know is that it was a mineral water company, we think called Pooley Mineral Water (original!?) and it suffered some sort of financial demise and was bought out by R White’s Lemonade. I know from searches at this end in the UK at Companies House that R White’s was at some stage taken over by the larger firm of Schweppes. I am toying with the idea of contacting Schweppes to see if they would be prepared to give me any information about the history of the company as I would assume companies keep details of this sort of thing even if just in their “archives”!

Any help greatly appreciated!
