I found a reference for a George Pooler of Canaan, Maine who was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mecanaan/military/revwar.htm There is a George Pooler who was listed on the tax rolls of Bloomfield, Maine in 1814. This may be the same individual or descendent of the above George Pooler. Bloomfield Maine was once part of Canaan, Maine. It was incorporated on February 6, 1814 but was annexed to Skowhegan in 1861. http://www.rootsweb.com/~meskowhe/earlyblo.htm I believe that the George mentioned above may have his genealogy detailed in another Genforum message posted by Rose Jensen rosehj@ida.net....it references George Pooler as well as the Pooler cemetary in Skowhegan, Maine: http://genforum.genealogy.com/pooler/messages/266.html As to a Native American connection to the Pooler name, I also found a reference to an Agnes Sawless Pooler (b.1884), a Maliseet Indian, whose photograph is depicted on this site: http://windowsonmaine.library.umaine.edu/fullrecord.aspx?objectId=2-357 I don't know if this Pooler connects to the Beauceville Poolers (possibly) or the DAR Poolers (less likely). There was a strong connection between the Native Americans of Maine and the French-Canadians and Acadians in Beauce, according to a reference in a book entitled The Acadians of Quebec.
