YDNA project seeks Info on 1621 French immigrant David Pole or David Poule
A lot of activity is going on with our Poole project-- More YDNA from England and Wales is needed-- Yes you living Pool/Pole/Poule/Poole males need to buy a kit and scrape your cheeks before your YDNA dies, too soon, with you.
Bonjour- J’ai cherche un homme que s’appelle Daniel ou David Poule/Pole ,peut etre 1600/ 1640-1680s(?).S’il vous plait: Dee needs any sourced information regarding the early Pole/Poole, a Frenchman who emigrated about 1621 in the ship named “George”.I first learned of him from author, Herbert Armstrong Poole of 1250 Canton Av, Milton Mass, in his 1952 Mss, APV Poole, “The Poole Family of Long Island” which mss I saw at the NY Pub Library, c2003. On my photocopy of thepage entitled Foreword, his entry reads:
“1621Daniel Poole.A Frenchman and his wife and young child who came in the ship “George”, and appear in a muster of Mr. George Sands”.
Yes, here the first name is Daniel.
But I find in my old files, a photocopy of pg512, VA Land Records (c1600’s), a book at Allen Co Pub Lib, there is an entry:
“(74) David Pole [1], of the Country of France, now inhabiting in Elizabeth City, vigneror, 60 acres at Buck Roe [2], in the precincts of Elizabeth City, lying eastward on a creek parting it from Point Comfort Island.Granted to the said Pole for the use of Master John Bonall, of London, gentleman.Lease for 10 years at 60 lbs tobacco yearly.By F. West, Dec 17th, 1627.”
Yes, here the first name is David, not Daniel, and the surname is Pole, not Poole.
One of my large YDNA groups in my Poole DNA project & Allied Families, using lab ftdna in Houston, is seriously researching this French line, Poule/Pole, in hopes to prove that they descend from this Virginia immigrant. Please post infoto this message thread with primary and secondary sources included in square brackets after any fact, or name the researcher/timeframe/repository etc who has contributed to the matter. If you google Poole DNA Project you can read further--be sure to see the colorful YDNA matrix (colorized version) which clearly shows our very hard work over many years. Scrape soon or sponsor kits as holiday gifts.
