The place you are looking for is Tredegar ( Gwent) in South Wales.
There are now a small number of Pook families in South Wales who are not related. A Pook family resided in Newport S.Wales in the 1940s so this may be the link you are seeking as both places are in the County of Gwent( we are not a branch of this family though). I dont know if any of this will help you at all. Further details ( names, dates etc) would help of course!
