I am looking for Charles J. Ponton who was born in Salisbury, England in 1833. He came to the USA in 1855, according to census records, and lived in St. Mary's county, Maryland. He married Elizabeth Catherine Leach in 1874 and had two sons. Charles Frederick Ponton and Sydney Johnson Ponton. Sydney Johnson was my grandfather. I'm trying to locate where Charles lived before he married. I was told he had been a Paymaster on an English ship called the Cresant. Does anyone have any information about him? Or how to locate crew members of an English ship? Thanks for any help! Phyllis Ponton Gee
