Hi, my mother is an Andrepont. A cousin did complete geneology research of the direct line back to Joseph Andre Pont who travelled from France to Louisiana about 1785. According to that research, James Odeah Andrepont was the son of Eraste Andrepont & Virginia Prudhomme. The father of Eraste Andrepont was Martin Andre Pont of Opelousas, Louisiana. Martin's father was Joseph Felix Pont whose father was Joseph Andre Pont.
Martin Andre Pont was the grandfather of James Odeah Andrepont. Our records indicate that James moved from Louisiana to Clifton, New Jersey. There is a picture of him as a young man in our family research book and as a child in a picture taken at the one-room school at Mallet, LA about 1905.
James had three siblings: Agnes (1895-1961), Nina (d.1973), and Lee (1897-1962).
Virginia Prudhomme Andrepont, James' mother, died in 1900 and his father remarried in 1902 to May Bertrand who gave birth to six children with Eraste Andrepont: Bernice, Barbara, Lunah, Earl, Willard, and Raphael.
My mother's grandfather was Martin Andre Pont, Jr., another son of Martin Andre Pont & Hermina Pitre who had 8 children in all. They lived in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana, and were married at St.Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana.
I can scan copies of those pictures if you like. I would also like to know the line of family since James Odeah Andrepont. Our research book does not list when James was born and died or any more info since it was written as a direct-line geneology book.
