I have just come across this site. My grandfather was Albert Pont 1901-1987. He lived in and around London and then retired to Kent. His father was Albert Edward Pont 1870-1955 from ?Lambeth. He married Kate Hearn. As a child he ran away to sea - merchant navy- we have his indentures. His father was Robert Pont 1.4.1840- 1876

He married Sarah Brooks. His father was James Pont who came from Burwash, Sussex. I havn't come across any Ponts before.
