Russell, Thank you for your insightful question on Eltweed Pomeroy. I have wondered about this question for some time and it is great to see it asked here. It does seem quite a jump from felt maker to blacksmith. I was told when asking the question that many of the early colonists learned new trades to supplement their farming here. I will be very interested to hear if you receive a definitive answer to this question. I agree with you also that the deposition in England in 1631 does seem to imply that he did not come over on the Mary and John. Once these "facts" are "out there" they seem to take on a life of their own with no one willing to challenge them. Thank you for being one who does so. Pam Journey
