Pomerantz 1914 Philadelphia

My maternal grandmother, Mary Pomerantz, married David Peizer, my grandfather. Both came to the US shortly after the turn of the 20th century from Yanova, Russia and married shortly thereafter. My grandparents were reputed to be second cousins. We are interested in identifying how they were related. Mary and David originally immigrated to Hartford, CT but moved to Philadelphia after about 2 years (circa 1914). David may have been in Hartford earlier, around 1906. They later divorced and Mary continued to live in Philadelphia and ran a pharmacy with her sister Miriam. Any ancestry of Peizer or Pomerantz would be helpful.
