These names are Americanized in spelling.
I also am not related but this looks as if it could be the same family. The only problem is that they left Sweden in 1881 and not in 1874. (However, you said that Charles Godfrey emigrated with his parents and he couldn't have been born that early based on his death in 1916 at age 38.) They definitely left from Halland county, and more specifically, their parish when they left was Enslöv parish. Records were kept in the parish.
This comes from the Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. It is about 75% complete.

Davidsdotter, Johanna Beata (Johanna never would have been the son of Pål and would not have used the Pålsson last name in Sweden. She would have remained the daughter of David, even after marriage. Swedish women didn't change their patronymic names when they married. I suppose she used American customs after emigrating, however.)
