Hi Olen,
The Joseph Polson that you are seeking information about; do you know if he was ever in South Carolina? I've been researching the Polsons from Chesterfield County SC for years and in the early years of my note taking, I wrote "Joseph Polson, Land Grant for 300 acres in Craven County 1773/02/17." and also "Joseph Polson, memorial for 300 acres on Broad River Craven County1773/07/09."Also, "Joseph Posten, account audited (file #6058) of claim growing out of the American revolution C. or later" and a plat # is given. Also, "Joseph Poulson, plat beside William Thomas for 200 acres in Craven County 1771/12/22".
Prior to the American Revolution, SC was divided into four large counties. Craven County pretty much included the entire upper (almost half) of the state stretching from the western to the eastern border.
