Darlene,

This article, you quote, is from the Obion Co. History pub. 1981 open to subscribers to enter family histories. In Obion Co. two Polsgrove families submitted family histories.
I caught the same thing you did, ' how was the story relayed to family, if the man's head was shot off.'
This family is the only one in the Fulton Co. - Obion Co.,Tn. area that has received the info. that Harrison was the nephew of Henry. All three of the Fulton Famlilies say 'son' as almost certainly do the 1830-1840 census reports. ( there was a young man living in the Henry household of the same age as Harrison and Jacob both born in 1814, which some find unusual, but I have checked , and it is thoroughly possible, and probable in this case.
When Harrison is married, in 1834, he sets up a seperate household, nearby and is not longer counted in the 1840 census, as living with Henry. His brother does like wise, ( Jacob), and he has moved to Graves Co.,Ky.

Not to confuse you by getting back on Harrison, but the point is this family history, seems to be based on verbal hearsay, passed down within this one family.

Jac Polsgrove from AZ came on the computer early and relayed a story told him by his father John Polsgrove, saying nephew, and I believe John Bristol has corresponded with him and he too had this story. So this is how the info. appeared on the computer, and with no one denying it, until I came on,that's how the whole thing got going.

I am in no way an expert on things Polsgrove, however, I believe in accurate data, thoroughly analized, and not 'hearsay'.
Even stories relayed to me by my grandmother, a Harrison, Wm. Henry, descendant, are not sacred.

So, to end this, I believe it is only this one family tradition based somehow on passed down stories, that seems to differ .

I have gotten in contact with a fine young lady Candace and also Jac about this. ( they are both in my line of descent.

The only advantage I may have is that I am retired, have the desire and the opportunity (living right here where all these events occurred ), to go to court houses, libraries, etc. to research. Which I have done - I have a stack of documents 5" thick.
I don't take anyones word for anything, I want to see documentation if possible, then if not, try to reason it out logically.
enouth. glad to see someone is reading this stuff other that John and myself.

But watch him, I told him he was a stubborn, cantankerous, ole codger....but then so was I.

Best

Kent
