Now that this info. is public, the following corrections and additions should be noted. Nathaniel Brown Land transaction: Source - Deed Book "A" pg.467, Clinton Co.Court House, Clinton,Ky. The land transaction, was between George Polsgrove of Franklin Co., Ky. and the heirs of Nathaniel Brown of Hickman Co., Ky. Their Brown heirs were his son Bradberry Brown, Elizabeth Brown Hammond and her husband Wm. Hammond, Mary Brown Bennett wife of William Bennett, and Lucinda A. Morrow, wife of George F. Morrow. Jacob Polsgrove came to Jordan, Ky. in 1835, and bought 80 acres (half of NW Qtr Sec 35 T1 R 4 W )- Deed Book " B " pg. 503-504 dated 24 Mar 1835. Jacob Polsgrove sold this property 7 Feb 1838 ( his wife name is listed as Nancy Polsgrove ) to a Margaret Kimberland. Deed Bk '? ' (failed to enter book nbr. but think it was "D", ) and the copy shows pg 354 - 355 Nathaniel Brown's Property: Nathaniel Brown's wife Catherine nee Polsgrove was still alive on the 1860 cenus as being age 68, living with her daughter Mary, ( a widow, as she is head of household),this Mary was wife of Wm.Bennett. Mary Brown Bennett and Wm.Bennett had a son age 16 in 1860 named Bradberry, this is the clue that led me to recognize that 'Bright Berry' spelled both this way and as one word in other documents 'Brightberry' was a corruption of 'Bradberry' and that the heir mentioned in Nathaniel's land deed was his son ,not his widow. So the 'Will of Nathaniel Brown : (source ?) is not a will but the mention of the heirs of Nathaniel Brown in the sale of his land located next to and adjoining George Polsgrove's property in Franklin Co., Ky. Philip Huffman's Story : Philip got a land grant at the time Henry got his it was the SW Qtr Sec 25 T1 R4W source, Ky.Land Grants West of the Tennessee River, by Jillson, Murray State Univ., Murray, Ky. also at Fulton Co. Public Library. Philip Huffman sold this section of land 1st on 18 Mar 1837 - Deed book 'C' pg 314 to John Hanna, a land speculator, I believe, as he too was given many land grants in this area at this same time, and was also an attorney with Caldwell Hanna & Co. of Louisville, Ky. and Hickman, Ky. On 24 Oct. 1837 - Deed Bk 'C" page 3263 - 364, there is a sale of this same property with a noted exception, mentioning an 8 acre lot being sold to a Rilan Fisher, that was excluded from this sale being recorded. (no further info. on this - other that it appears to be a spring located on this lot - this is the location of Henry Polsgrove's grave marker ) The next part about speculating whether the people who buried Henry knew that the land he was being buried on had been sold or not, should not have been included. We will never know what any of these distant ancestors 'thought' or knew. John Wilson and Family: A John Wilson appears on the 1829 Hickman Co. tax list along with Philip Huffman and Bradberry Brown so it is just a logical conclusion to draw that as he was married to a sister of Henry's, as these other two were, he too joined them. He is never shown after this in any document and the tax list does not show him owning any land. William Harrison Polsgrove : re the mention in a note following (Henry had been there earlier, 1825 when daug. Emeline was born in Tn. ) Thanks for this input, as I was awareof this info. but when writing this, had not remembered it. This opens up further speculation, that Henry with his wife must have come down earlier, at least by 1825, for his daug. to be born in Tn. Henry's land grant was less than an eighth of a mile from the TN - KY line, so that explains this. A further example of the closeness geographically. Source : History of Obion Co. pub. 1887, Harriett, Emiline, and George M. Polsgrove, daughters and son of Henry, and George W. Whipple husband of Henry's daughter Sarah Ann, were founding members of the first congregation of the Church of Christ that was organized in Obion Co., TN in 29 Oct 1848. Re: (note: Can these marriage dates be reconciled?) I am unaware of any other dates, this info. comes from local family histories. Kent
