James K. Pollock Family
I am tracing James K. Pollock of Bedford, Lincoln and Hardin Counties of Tennessee. I THINK James was the son of John and Alcy Pollock (#12 on John Barron's work). James is listed in the Bedford County census in 1830 and 1840. Listed in Lincoln County in 1850 with most likely wife Elizabeth and children Rachael, Boyer, Mary, William, Rebecca, Mitchell, Louiza, Marcus and Williams Stephens. I also believe Elizabeth to be Elizabeth Stephens daughter of John and Elizabeth Joyner Stephens (Elizabeth Stephens had a brother named Boyer). Listed as Jas K Pollock in the Hardin County 1860 census (District 4) with Elizabeth, Mary J., Marcus J. and Rebecca A. Shands and husband Jackson Shands with son (James) Thomas Powell from Rebecca's first husband, Henry Monroe Powell (m. 7 May 1855 Lincoln, TN) . Also, listed is William A. Pollock and it appears wife Elizabeth next door. Boyers Stephens married Martha Renegar, daughter of Jacob and Christina Groce Renegar, in Lincoln county and was listed in the 1860 census of Lincoln County with four children. Boyers was killed in the Civil War and his descendants took the Pogue surname which I can easily prove by his wife's Pension Record. James K. Pollock is listed in the 1870 census of Hardin County, TN (District 4) with Elizabeth, James, Mary A. and Rebecca Maddon and Thomas Shands. William and Elizabeth are again next door. I loose the James K. Pollock bunch after this census. Several theories show them moving to Tippah County, Mississippi or Hardeman/Madison/Wayne/Lawrence County, Tennessee. One even shows Rebecca Pollock Powell Shands death as 1896. I would greatly appreciate any help and/or proof on this family.
