The James Pollock in Henderson County, IL in 1880 census was born Mar 22, 1816 in Harrison county, KY and died Sep 1, 1896 in Cowley County, KS. He was the son of John Pollock and Elizabeth Stewart. His wife was Hetty Smith, daughter of John Smith and Ellen McIntosh of Clermont county, Ohio, she was born Mar 19, 1818 in Clermont and raised in Brown County, OH by her grandparents. She died Nov 24, 1893 in Cowley County, KS and they are both buried in New Salem Cemetery, Cowley County, KS. They were married Feb 21, 1836 or 1837 in Clermont County, OH, moved to Jefferson county, IN and then to Henderson county, IL. James, the father and his 3 sons William, Henton, and John were all in the Civil war. James was wounded and had his right leg amputated above the right knee. I have a lot of info on James forward to present but havent found much before him. His mother died when he was a baby and his father died in 1837 as is buried on the family farm in Henderson county, KY. I dont know where that farm is. That info is from a biography that Hetty wrote in Henderson County book published in 1882.
