Samuel Pollitt (b. abt 1809) married Dinah before 1834. They had the following children: Mary (1834), Elizabeth (1836), Samuel (1839), George (1842), Alice Jane (1845), John (1847). This is accroding to the 1851 census. Mary married Matthew Haigh in 1855. In 1851, the family lived in Broughton, Lancashire, England. They did move about since various children were born in an assortment of towns.
If anyone has information on this family of Pollitts, I'd appreciate sharing. I am descended from Mary Pollitt and Matthew Haigh.
