Re: Your post of June 2005, yes Samuel Major Pollard did have a sister names Sarah.Their mother was Sally (Sarah) Mullins who was from Charlotte county Virginia.Samuel Major Pollard Sr. was also from Charlotte.According to census records they lived in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1802 through 1808, went back to Virginia about 1810 and back to Grainger County, Tennessee around 1811. Samuel Major Pollard Jr. was born in Grainger County in 1812 and he married Elizabeth Smith on 10/25/1831 in Grainger. They had at least five children and Elizabeth Smith died in Grainger County in 1845.Samuel Jr. migrated to Trigg County, Kentucky between 1845 and 1850 with his children. They are shown on the 1850 Trigg County census. However, on the 1860 Trigg County census, he is shown with his son, Thomas and a Louisa A. Phipps born about 1840 and Lucy Phipps born in 1862.I assume that Louisa was his daughter since he did have a daughter named Louisa. She must have married someone named Phipps and either she left him or he died and she returned to live with her father. Samuel Jr. died in Butler County, Missouri in 1882. I do not know when or how he went to Missouri or whether any of his children went with him because I do not have access to Missouri censuses. Neither Louisa nor Thomas show up on the 1900 or later Trigg County censuses.I have tried surrounding counties, but they do not show up on those either. Thomas was my great great grandfather. His son, Samuel M., was my great grandfather and he is buried in Caldwell county, Kentucky.
