I think you have Joshua Jr confused with senior. I believe I am descended from junior's brother Barsilla. It is uncertain because my gg-grandfather is usually recorded as BB Pollard.
However, in 1910 he is Balsibba/Balzilba. As I could find this name nowhere else I assummed it was a misspelling.
I found a Barsil and a Barsilla in NC and found out that Barsilla is an alternate of Barzillai. Then I found a Barzillia Betts Pollard who was a Civil War pensioner in TN. He had served in the 14th NC Inf. I knew that this was my BB Pollard immediately!
Here is the info I have on Joshua senior's household...
Persons in the 1850 household are: Joshua-50,
Elizabeth-43, Frances-35 (a sister?), Samuel-18,
Joshua-14, Lucy-13, Augustus-8, William-6, Barsilla-4,
Nicholas-2. This record says it's the Western
Division.
It looks like Joshua died by 1860 as Elizabeth is
head of household.
1860 household: Elizabeth-52?, Lucy-22, Willey-18,
Henry-16, Barsil-14, Marian/Marion-11 (male). This one
says North Western Division. The post office is
difficult to read but looks like Rogers store...?
Wow, a Samuel R? That is strange. Barzillai's daughter Lena married Samuel R Brock in TN. They are my g-grandparents.
