Hello,
John Polk who married Eleanor Shelby was verified through Daughters of the American Revolution. He fought in Mecklenburg Co., Anson Co., NC. He was a Soldier and Civil Service (Juror) in NC. Roster of NC So in Rev. p 489,494. Mechlenburg Co., NC Court Mins Bk 1 1774-1800 pg 29
John and Eleanor were my 7th great grandparents. I submitted my application for member into DAR in Aug 2010 and was accepted in Oct. 2010 under the records I sent with my application.
Children listed under the Children of Revolutionary Ancestor are as following. Charles, John, Taylor and Shelby. I have a girl by the name of Eleanor. With a total of five children. There might have been more.
My older brother has taken a DNA test and was matched withour father, Willis, grandfather, Beverly, great grandfather, Taylor, Taylor 11 great grandfather, Taylor Polk III great grandfather. Then to John Polk and Eleanor. I not convinced that Wiliam Polk was born in Pennsylvania.
I have worked with Bill Polk who indicates that John's parents were in factor William Polk and Margaret Taylor.
Please include me with your postings. If I can be or any help please advise me.
