Bill,
Thanks for the info about Burley's death location and Rosa's birthplace.I didn't know that about Burley; my dad knew him quite well, I'll have to ask him if he remembers hearing the news that Burley had died in TX.
I don't know much about Beulah Polk either.Burley's first wife Jean died young, and she is the one buried with him at Cave Hill. I don't know where Beulah is buried, maybe with her family somewhere.Burley never had any children.Maude and her husband Guy Bogard had one child, a daughter, Dorothy.I never met her (the family was not what you'd call close-knit).
Racy family trivia, just for fun - the reason Alvin. Sr. and his wife Pauline are not buried at the Polk plot at Cave Hill with the rest of them is that the Polks considered Pauline to be beneath them and a little "fast" (she became pregnant with my grandfather before they were married). My Aunt Pat told me Grandmother said she didn't want to be buried with those "uppity" Polks and made my g-gpa buy them their own plots at Rest Haven.
Also, back to the family of James Madison - Sallie, Alvin, Charlie and Matt all remained unmarried with no children, and they lived together on a farm.Charlie was blind; he lost both eyes in two unrelated accidents, and Matt was deaf.My dad remembers visiting them as a small child, the odd old bachelor uncles who lived with Henry and Rosa in their house in Louisville.: )
