Ned- I find your most recent posting most interesting. My most distant documented relative is g-g-g-grandfather Joseph Lee polk,b. 1788 N.C. d. 1868 Maury County, Tn. He named a son John Alexander Polk and had a grandson named John Alexander. I have oftened wondered about the connection to a John Alexander. I recently took the 46 marker DNA test from ancestry.com. I am hoping that I can establish what branch of the Polk family I belong. I look forward to comparing results with others in the Polk group DNA project.
