Hi Bill,
Thanks for posting that info, more grist to feed into the data mill.
I learned long ago that when new evidence comes in, I need to change my conclusions to fit the evidence, not vice versa.
That 1810 federal census-type household breakdown information for the Polks in Stewart County TN you found on that CD is very strange. When we look at it, it has 6 columns for the males, which is characteristic of the 1820 census, not the 1810 census, which had 5 columns for the males. And then looking at the breakdown for each of the three households, it is identical to the breakdown given in the 1820 census for Charles, John and William Polk. So it would appear that whoever compiled that CD mistakenly labeled the 1820 census information as 1810 census information.
By the way, I should point out that Charles Polke the Indian Trader was located at what is now Hancock MD near the mouth of Tonoloway Creek (also called Conoloway or “the Conoloways” in old records) and not at Williamsport near the mouth of Conococheague Creek.
