Hi Betty,
Nancy Knox Owens’ husband William Owens was still alive and kicking in September 1697 when he witnessed a will.*
He died at some point after that and before March 27, 1698 when his own will was probated.**
So if William Polk fathered a child Elizabeth by Mrs. Owens in 1695, I can imagine that Mr. Owens must have been very upset! And understandably so!
As to William Polk’s age, he was born in 1673 give or take a year.***
My own opinion is that Robert Polk, Jr., was more likely the father of William Polk (wife Margaret Taylor) than the William Polk who married the widow Owens.
