Donna,
The census are often indexed incorrectly - you really cannot trust the names sometimes, as the indexers had the same problems reading the names as we do.J. E. Polk's full name was James Elf Polk. You will find him in the 1920 census, Bosque Co., TX., as J. C. Poke. And as you already know, he was in 1910 Limestone Co., TX., and in 1930 Bosque Co., TX.He died in 1945, is buried in Ferguson Cemetery, Limestone Co., TX.The birth record of Bobby Jean Polk, James and Susan's last child (I think he was their last child - I have not record of one younger) shows the father as Jim Elf Polk.Leonard's birth record, as you know, shows him as J. E. Polk.Odd middle name, Elf.The marriage record between him and Susan Busby shows his name as "J. E. Polk" and hers as "Susie Busby."They were married in Limestone Co., TX., 18 April 1908.Susan (Busby) Polk d. in 1955, but I don't know where she was buried. The name on the tombstone of James Polk is Jim Elf Polk, according to a tombstone listing of Ferguson Cemetery. His wife Susan is not on that listing, and the listing was done in 2005, so I wonder where she was buried.Bill Polk, Kansas City, MO.
