Poznan is a city. There is a powiat (county) by the same name. There used to be a province by the same name. When you write requesting records, you need to know the name of the parish in which people lived, they religion and the date of birth, marriage or death occurrance for the record(s) you want.

There is a project that may help you. It's for marriage records in Poznan, the province. It is at this site: http://poznan-project.psnc.pl/.
