Dear Carolyn,
Oh yes, Jordan is an old Polish first name, I've Jordan in my family Wysocki tree, Jordan Czeslaw Wysocki was the brave and young Pole like your Jordan, emigrant after Poland January Uprising 1863, and finally citizen of Argentina, died there in 1883 as famous Argentinian explorer, cartographer, architect. If you like to see him, here is his picture as first from left, in the bottom is my father, in the right it's me! :))
