Hi Calvin,
Maybe I can point you in the correct direction.
It appears that John Paul Giza was from Kwiko~w (the “o” has a Polish diacritical mark above it) Galicia/Poland, a small Polish village with a population of 235.The Krakow mentioned in your posting is a much larger southern Polish city with a population of over 756,000.
Jan/John Giza arrived at the Port of Baltimore on April 15, 1905 on board the vessel S.S. Gera.He sailed from Bremen Germany on April 1, 1905.His last residence was listed as Kwikow Austria/Galicia.His destination was Fry Street in Chicago IL where he was going to join his sister Francizska/Frances Giza.
There is a Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court Naturalization Index for a Jan Giza born on 09/21/1881.According to the index, Jan arrived from Bremen Germany on April 14, 1905.He filed his declaration papers in Cook County on 02/03/1917.He was employed as a laborer and lived at 1354 Walton “Place” at the time of his filing.Jan’s birth city was listed as “Kwikun” on the index.
John Giza married Rose Sowa on August 5, 1907 at St. John Cantius Chuch.
A Frances Giza married a Frank Majka on August 21, 1906 and an Ann Giza married a Frank Swieton on May 14, 1912, also at St. John Cantius Church.
There are 1910, 1920 and 1930 U.S. census records for the John and Rose Giza family.
In 1910, the family lived at 1460 West Fry Street in Chicago, IL (present-day zip code 60642).
In 1920, the family lived at 1354 West Walton Street in Chicago, IL (present-day zip code 60642).
In 1930, the family lived at 2449 Marmora Avenue in Chicago, IL (present-day zip code 60639).
I believe you search for Giza family ancestral records should be focused in Kwikow (and not Krakow).
I would send you copies of the above mentioned documents, but your email address is “hidden”.
Best regards,
Norbert
