Thanks Jerry,
That just might be the village as it does sound alike. I have been told thru the years that my Great-grandfather John Schwarzbach was German. The border crossing record lists him as race: German. All records (census, death certificate, city directories) in Michigan list him as John Swartzback. Swartzback has always been the family name until I found the record with Schwarzbach.
