I am looking for more information on my great-grandfather
Antoni Cieszynski (Ceszynski) born 1 Dec 1871
Swiecie‎, Westpreußen Poland (Prussia, Germany)

He was a catholic. Father's name was probably Michal (Michael) born abt 1834 died abt 1905.

I would like to trace the rest of the lineage including spouses if possible. Where do I begin? Would the records be kept with the church? Is there one catholic church or one on every corner? Would they have survived the wars?
