His name is Tomasz in the nominative case (i.e. the subject of a sentence).
Unfortunately, Posen was both a city and a state in the Kingdom of Prussia. If Tomasz stated he came from the State of Posen you don't have an EXACT enough location to find records. If he did come from the City of Posen the problem is finding the church book that contains the records in a place where there may be many dozens of churches.
Same thing with "near Krakow". Not exact enough. Soika is a bluejay. A rather common surname. If Smykala is rare you may be able to get something out of it but, I doubt it.
Unfortunately, the name of this game is location, location, location. If yopu can put a location to aname you are in business.
