It would be nice if you could hire a professional, but than you could be paying for someone to make errors in your research. I would rather blame myself than to think I gave someone hundreds of dollars for incorrect data.

Even if you wanted to hire someone today, you don't have enough information to send them to the place where the records for your family are. You will need to search for records right there in England. Start with yourself. Start ordering documents going backwards on your ancestors. Your parents are next. Their parents are next.

Check with your local LDS Family History Center to see if there is anyone there offering classes to learn how to research or if their volunteers on duty are willing to help people. You can find the closest FHC near you using this site: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp They may know of a local genealogical society offering classes. You need to learn where the records in England are and how to find them.

Hope this will help you get started on a wonderful journey in to your family history.

Tina Ellis
