Many Family History Centers have access to http://www.ancestry.comhttp://www.ancestry.comSee if they have it before you start ordering film.:)
There are Adamczyk families in the Pittsburgh area. They were listed as being from Poland, Russia/Poland and Austria/Poland.
There is a John Adamcik listed with a family in McKees Rocks, Allegheny, PA with an uncle Andy in the 1930 census.John is 25 years old in the census.Andy, his wife as being born in Czechoslovakia. The children of Andy were born in PA.An 18 year old female border was born in Hungary.John was born in Pennsylvania, and his parents are listed as being born in Czechoslovakia.
If you go to this site:http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=ssdi&ti=0&gsfn=john&gsln=adamcik&sx=&prox=1&gsco=2%2cunited+states&gspl=41%2cpennsylvania&year=&yearend=&gskw=allegheny&ti=0&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&gss=angs&gs=adamcik+johnhttp://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=ssdi&ti=0&gsfn=john&gsln=adamcik&sx=&prox=1&gsco=2%2cunited+states&gspl=41%2cpennsylvania&year=&yearend=&gskw=allegheny&ti=0&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&gss=angs&gs=adamcik+john
You can find the SS record for your John and the son John of Andy. You can order the application for your John, and this should give you parents names and where he was born.Sometimes people put the actual name of the village where they were born or just the country, but it will give you his father's name and mother's maiden name. You need to order the $27.00 version of the application. The $16.00 computerized version will not give you that data.At the end of the line where he is listed, click on the words Request Information (SS-5) and you will get a prepared letter. You can copy and paste it to a word document.
Good luck.
