Michael J Polak, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. He was born in Manville, NJ the son of the late Anthony and Anna Polak.
He was a lifelong resident of Manville, NJ. Mr. Polak served his Country Honorably in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean War. He worked as an Electrician Supervisor for the Johns Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ for 23 years before retiring. Mr. Polak was a member of the Manville American Legion Post #304, the Manville Senior Citizens Organization, The NJ Marine Road Det. (MCL), a MYAL baseball coach and was very active with the Manville Community throughout his life. Mr. Polak was a Manville Councilman serving his Community in Public Service for 15 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ for over 50 years. He was also a past member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society. He was loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Leo Polak and Joseph Polak and by his sisters, Katherine Tobias, Carolina Golden and Mary Pitek. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan M. Polak of Manville, NJ; his daughters, Michelle Monturo of Arizona and Donna Blair of Manville, NJ; his sons, John Polak of Fredon, NJ and Alan Polak of Manville, NJ. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Eric, Jonathan, Brett, Alicia, Kimberly, Devon, Rachael, Samantha, Christie, Joey and Cassandra.
The viewings will be on Thursday August 18, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Friday August 19, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. (908)575-8512. The Funeral will be on Saturday August 20, 2011 8:15 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ.
