Does anyone have infomation on Alethea E Cargill? I think she was the A E Cargill listed in the 1850 census of Panola County, Texas, as born about 1846 in Louisiana; daughter of John C Cargill, listed as a Methodist preacher, born about 1814 in South Carolina; and sister of Napoleon C Cargill, born about 1848 in Texas and Lafayette Cargill, born about 1849 in Texas. Lafayette is listed in the 1870 census (p 441a) in Shreveport PO, Caddo County, Louisiana, on the same page as his future wife, Martha A Welch, daughter of Joseph B Welch. Napoleon was listed in the 1880 census in Decatur, Wise County, Texas; Lafayette and Martha were in Brazos County, Texas, in 1880. I have, so far, been unable to determine the whereabouts of this family in 1860, the parentage of John C Cargill, whether A E and Alethea E are indeed the same person, or any record of John C Cargill after 1850. Aby help would be appreciated. Thanks.
