Hi Lisa,
My grandfather was originally born Max Seltzer. His mother's name was Sima Pohl, born 1880 in Kalusz Poland.
After his father Harry Seltzer went to America, the family learned that he had found another woman there. Most of the family took on their mother's maiden name as either Paul or Pohl in revenge. My Grandfather came across as Max Pohl in 1923.
Any chance me might have a common relative?
