Do You know Max Pohl?
I've seen pictures on the internet of him and he has Saslow family members and Resnick too.
He resembles my relatives with the same last name Pohl.
They were from Leutmannsdorf and Hirschberg, Silesia.
My grandfather was Otto Pohl born 09 Jan 1905 Germany.
His last residence was Leutmannsdorf, Silesia before coming to USA.
His brother Gustav Pohl born 21 May 1888 in Hirschberg. He arrived in America first. He was a baker on board a ship and "jumped ship" never returned and stayed in America.
Otto came to USA to him.
There is a story in my family that he baked the cake for the inaguration of Govenor of NY Alfred Smith.
Both Gustav and Otto were bakers and eventually owned a couple of bakeries in NJ.
Neither talked about the family they left behind in the old country.
They knew German and another language, which may have been Yiddish.
Can you tell me more about the Pohls in your family.
