Hi Adalaide,

I haven't been to the forum for awhile, and as I was browsing the posts, I saw that you had posted me, in Feb.
What a nice surprise! I believe it is the very same George Petker. My Petker and Harding families settled the Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo area very heavily.

My Great Great Grandfather was Gerhard Poetker who immigrated from Russia. I did have some family linage info from the time they were in Germany, but don't know what I did with it. grrr My Great Grandpa was George Gerhard Petker who was married to Mary Smith. Great Grandpa died in 1952, but I knew my Great Grandma Mary very well.

She lived in Arroyo Grande til she died in 1970. My Grandmother was Anna Petker Harding. Unfortunately Adalaide, my Grandfather didn't permit my Grandma or their children, to visit her parents, so my Father and siblings didn't get to know the Petkers until George Petker died. It was only then that my Dad and his siblings really got to know Grandma Petker and some of the other Petkers.

The only male siblings of Grandma's that I met was Art. I knew her sisters, Mary, Elsie, Goldie, Ella. I didn't really know Kate Barden. Did you ever eat in Aunt Goldie's cafe? We did know Great Aunt Kate really well. She was Great Grandma's sister, and a very nice lady. Great Grandma was very dear to me, as a child.

I would very much enjoy exchanging info and photos, although I am a bit at a disavantage, because I probably don't have as much family info as you do.

I have been very interested in this family. So please do write back.

warm regards,
