Harold Leon Poe passed away 1-1-2000
Harold "Leon" Poe, 67, of Aurora Il., passed away in the company of his family on January 1, 2000. Harold entered this world on October 19, 1932 in Madisonville, KY.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the years of 1949 to 1953. Harold came to Aurora in 1964. He worked at Aurora Industries in the foundry until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed the time he spent with his friends at the Eagles Club, where he was a life time member of Faternal Order of Eagles, Arie #1606, on Hill Ave. In recent years he has fought a long battle with emphysema. Harold was a good father and friend, and will be sorely missed by all.
Survivors include his lifetime companion, Elizabeth Canady; two daughters: Elizabeth (Steve) Patterson of Sandwich and Claudia (Allen) Poe of Beardstown, IL; four sons: Steven (Tamara) Poe of Aurora, Harold (Norma) Poe of Fayettville, N.C., Kenneth (Cindy) Poe of Seneca, IL and Curtis (Evelyn) Poe of Aurora, 18 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Henry (1964) and Ruby (Buchanan) Poe (1992); sisters: Opal Mae Poe (1938) and Freida Lois Poe (1935) and one brother James Ray Poe (1986).
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 5, 2000 at Dieterle Memorial Home at 10 a.m. Rev. Roy Chestnut will officiate, with interment at Olive Branch Cemetery, Thursday January 6 at 11 a.m. in Madisonville Ky.
