With respect to the posting by Ron Morris, the first known Andrew Poe (1742-1823) was the older brother of Adam Poe (1747-1838), and these brothers were the famous fighters in the Indian Wars.
Andrew was married to Elizabeth Rutan (1758-1839) and he was 72 in 1814.It would have been unlikely that he would have fathered an offspring at that time or he would have found a Cherokee in that area.

I have one old family record that I have not checked personally, but it says that the second marriage recorded at Lisbon, Columbiana County, OH was on 8th September 1803 and linked an Andrew Poe and an Ann Hoog, a Mingo Indian of Aliquippa blood.Since Adam Poe lived near Lisbon at that time, it seemed possible that this Andrew was the son of Adam and that the two spellings of his wife's name (Hoog & Hoy) were different interpretations of script records. However, no other records show that Nancy Hoy was Indian.

Another old family record shows that the original Andrew Poe also had a son he named Andrew, but I have found no confirmation of that. Many records show he had 9 daughters (no Ludice or Nancy), but only two sons, Adam and my 2nd great-grandfather, George.
