Sanford Backues and his son in law, Barnabus Madison Poe are buried on private land in Osage County, off E Highway before you reach state highway "E" close to Linn, Missouri.Sanford Backues owned the land that the town of Linn now sits on and owned the first grist mill there.Barnabus Madison Poe married Eliza Backues, Sanford's daughter.Sanford deeded himself a burial area on his land so it would always stay as a final resting area for him.I believe that this land is farmed by the Alex Renkemeyer family at this writing. No one has seen those two graves for many years. The generations of women and decendants from these two men are buried at Pilot Knob, Missouri in Buck Elk Cemetery. The cemetery is next to Pilot Knob church.I am a decendant of those two men and live less than an hour away.If you have any old pictures of our family, I would really love to see them.
