No one seems to know what happened to John Jr and Elijah. They disappear from all records. Many assume they died in infancy. They were probably born during the years that John and Mary were on the move from PA to KY and then OH.It was not uncommon to lose the infants and the elderly during these rough transitions.
During the period 1782-1788 most of my PA Poes wandered down into North Carolina for a short time. From 1788-1791 most of them returned to PA or MD.
Your land record between a Poe and a Newman is very interesting.I had not been able to link those two names before in any of the counties. From 1779 to 1787 my John Poe was single and just out of the military and seems to have moved around a great deal.I'm not sure where he met his Newman wife.
Eventually my branch of the Poes ended up in Johnson Co IN.Some of them then went on over to Morgan Co.There must be a connection between these two branches. But I don't know ofa John W b. 1787.
