Searching for NJ/PA Plumley's in 1600's-1700's
Has anyone run across information about Plumley/Plumbley/Plumly men named Jacob, George, Edward, Robert and John from New Jersey (and possibly PA)in the 1600-1800? LDS shows a John Plumley born 1687 in Lawrenceville, NJ.(Lawrenceville didn't exist then. That area was then called Maidenhead in Burlington Co, NJ and in 1714 was annexed into Hunterdon Co and in 1816 became Lawrence TWP, Hunterdon Co and in 1838 was annexed into Mercer Co. See how confusing all this is!) Then there is a 6 yr. old John Plumley on the 1709 Northampton, Burlington Co, NJ census in the home of Richard and Mary Brown. Then in 1792 the Hunterdon Co., NJ Militia exempts George, Edward and John "Plumbley" from service and Jacob "Plumbley" is shown as an enlisted man from Lebanon TWP, Hunterdon Co., NJ. One possibility is that some of these men could be part of the Plumly family (Charles & Margery) of Bucks Co., PA as this family is said to have owned land across the river in New Jersey.I haven't been able to find proof of this. Would anyone have any infomation that would shed light on this?
