Another note for you if you want to read about Plowman's in early America I posted the biography of Jonathan Plowman Jr. online at wikipedia you can go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Plowman_Jr.
and read about him. A quick summary is that his father Jonathan Plowman Sr. arrived in America as an Indentured Servant at age 12 with no family and worked in a plantation in Jamestown Virginia. From there he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and married had three kids...the middle one Jr. went on to become a successful Merchant actually him and his cousin Dr. John Stevenson were the largest importers of indentured servants in the 1750's and 60's. He owned ships we know because George Washington wrote a letter on his behalf to regain a ship seized for contraband in 1771. (At this time the stamp act was in force and may have led to the ships seizure). He was a land developer and had his land laid out in streets and lots and added to Baltimore where he became a city councilman and a Justice of the Peace. During the Revolution he pledge allegiance to the USA and was a member of the Revolutionary Govenment and a part of a group that reported British troop movement to the Rebels. His impact on the city of Baltimore was great and lasting including donating land for the Particular Baptist Gunpowder Church. (Gunpowder refered to the area near gunpowder creek just as todays churches are First Baptist of "enter place". Well hope your search goes well.
