Ron,
I find this very interesting. I haven't done much Plowman searching yet, my gr.grandmother was Annie Plowman B:1855 in Pa., her parents were James Plowman and Frances Flemng. The rest is unknown, however there's a story in our family that... Legend has it that the first Plowman to come to America was given a sizeable grant of land which eventually became a large portion of downtown Baltimore,Maryland. His descendants were not able to prove their claim so a lot of relatives pooled a lot of money. They hired a lawyer and sent him to England to find proof of their claim. Neither the lawyer nor their money was ever seen again. Perhaps it's just a humourous little story but it is interesting.
I can see I'll be doing more Plowman research in the near future. If you've heard anything like this I'd be curious to hear about it.
