Hi Lori, -- My grandfather's name was John aka Jean-Baptiste Plude (also spelled Ploude). His father had the same name, lived in Brandon, VT, was marriedat St. Joseph's Church in Burlington, VT. in 1851 and later moved to nearby Whitehall, NY.
My grandfather was a carpenter who moved to Cohoes (Northside) NY after he became an adult. He married Cordelia LaJeunesse there, where they had 3 children. Then, they moved to Springfield, Mass. where they had 4 more children. He died there, unexpectedly, in 1898. His wife and children moved back to Cohoes NY near where her parents lived, and she died, unexpectedly, shortly after that move. Some of the children were taken care of by relatives in Cohoes, while others were placed in Canadian orphanages for a few years and later returned to relatives in Cohoes. Only the oldest, a son, cannot be accounted for. His relatives lost track of him, and could never find him. He would have been about 15 or 16 years old at the time the family was split up. Their grandfather(LaJeunesse) died in an accident about a year after their father died, and their grandmother (LaJeunesse)died, unexpectedly, about 4 years after her husband. The LaJeunesse family was caring for the children while these tragedies happened.
Does any of this ring a bell with you? Please let me know.
